Why Industry Support Matters

Why It Matters
About 47% of the U.S. workforce is female, but women make up only around 11% of the construction industry. That number is even smaller in the field roles like paving and operations.
The industry is facing a growing workforce shortage - and Women of Asphalt is here to change that by raising awareness of career opportunities, providing mentorship and education, and creating a strong talent pipeline.
Thanks to our national partners, Women of Asphalt:
-
Membership remains free and accessible for women at every stage of their careers,
-
Deploy career-building resources and connections empower members to grow and lead,
- Host programs and support local branches expand our reach and deepen our impact.

Mentorship + Year-Round Learning
Programs like our Mentorship Program and Lead & Inspire Webinar Series help women gain support, build confidence, and continue growing at every career stage.
Since 2025, we’ve significantly expanded our branch support - using national partnership funding to create branch toolkits, national resources, ready-to-use marketing materials, and templates that branches can use to grow their reach and impact locally. Partner dollars also help us expand into new regions by supporting branch start-up needs, including initial support resources and branch logos to help new branches launch strong.
Local branches are established as separate state entities, so any fundraising or sponsorships secured locally stay within that state and go directly back to supporting the branch’s programs, outreach, and activities. This structure ensures local support has local impact, while national partners help power the broader Women of Asphalt mission nationwide.
