Built on Family, Fueled by Relationships

Member Monday Spotlight: Hannah Laney
We’re continuing our Member Monday series highlighting the incredible individuals who make up the Women of Asphalt community. Every other week, we’re sharing member stories, career journeys, and what drives them.
Next up: Hannah Laney, Asphalt Sales & Business Development at Laney Companies, whose roots in the asphalt industry run three generations deep.
Meet Hannah
How did you get started in the asphalt industry?
For Hannah, the asphalt industry has always felt like home.
As a third-generation member of a family business, she grew up around jobsites, equipment, and paving operations. Some of her earliest memories include riding along with her dad, climbing material piles, learning the paving process, and helping with office tasks after school.
"It very much feels like second nature to me, and to this day I still absolutely love it."
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Hannah loves the combination of relationships and results. In her sales and business development role, she enjoys learning what each client needs and helping connect them with the right solutions. Building long-term partnerships is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
She also appreciates the variety the industry offers.
"One day I'm going to jobsites, the next day I'm hosting events, meeting with vendors, or coming up with social media ideas. Every day is different and keeps me on my toes."
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in this industry?
Hannah encourages people to learn about both office and field roles.
"Every role in the industry matters, from plant operator to foreman, truck driver, estimator, and sales. If one link slips, the whole job could suffer."
She believes understanding how all the pieces fit together helps build trust, respect, and stronger teams.
What does being part of Women of Asphalt mean to you?
For Hannah, Women of Asphalt provides a network of women who understand the unique experiences of working in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Through WofA, she has found mentorship, leadership opportunities, meaningful connections, and ways to give back to her community through philanthropy and outreach.
"Women of Asphalt has opened so many doors for me, and I am very proud to be one of the women representing it."
Hannah's story is a reminder that the asphalt industry is built on people, relationships, and a willingness to learn from every role. We're proud to spotlight Hannah and the impact she's making across our industry. 👏
