Next up: Hannah Garison, Executive Support Manager at Riggs CAT, the Arkansas Caterpillar Dealer.
Meet Hannah
How did you get started in the asphalt industry?
For Hannah, her journey into the asphalt industry began when she accepted her current role with Riggs CAT. What she quickly discovered was just how diverse the industry really is.
"I didn't realize how diverse Caterpillar is." That realization opened her eyes to the many people, professions, and innovations that help support the work happening across the industry every day.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Without hesitation, Hannah points to the people.
She enjoys being part of a team that shares common values and a commitment to serving customers and one another.
"It's the Riggs Way that has been instilled in us: Urgent. Selfless. Excellent." Those values help create a culture where teamwork, accountability, and service come first.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in this industry?
"Have an open mind!" Hannah believes many people underestimate the number of career opportunities available throughout the asphalt industry.
"I didn't realize how much science and research goes into it - engineers of all kinds, manufacturers, technicians, and operators. I can go on and on."
For Hannah, one of the most exciting things about the industry is that there is truly something for everyone.
What does being part of Women of Asphalt mean to you?
Hannah values the opportunity to connect with women who are making an impact both on jobsites and behind the scenes.
Through Women of Asphalt, she has found a community where women can share experiences, learn from one another, and support each other's professional growth.
"We can all relate to an extent and give us a way to learn from one another by sharing our experiences."
What's something people might be surprised to learn about your job?
In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities, Hannah helps coordinate a women's wellness break at her office several times each week.
Whether it's walking laps around the parking lot or following along with a workout video and hand weights, it's a simple way to encourage wellness, connection, and a healthy workplace culture.
Hannah's story is a reminder that sometimes the biggest surprise about our industry is just how many opportunities it holds. From science and technology to operations, leadership, and support roles, there truly is a place for everyone.
