From Forestry to Asphalt: Taking the Leap

Meet Noelle

How did you get started in the asphalt industry?
A friend in the industry reached out to me about a role in pavement reinforcement. At the time, I was working in the forestry industry and didn’t know much about asphalt—but I was intrigued. After connecting with a few experienced professionals, I decided to take the leap and change careers. It was a great decision!

What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love working with people. This role has allowed me to meet individuals from all over with different backgrounds and interests—and I’ve built some very close friendships along the way.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career in this industry?
Find someone in the industry who inspires you. Learn about their path, what they’ve experienced, and what they enjoy. It’s incredibly helpful to learn from others as you make your own decisions.

What does being part of Women of Asphalt mean to you?
Women of Asphalt means community—a network of friends, mentors, peers, opportunities, and a true sense of belonging.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about your job?
Sales in this industry is anything but typical. Some days I’m in steel-toed boots at an asphalt plant or alongside a paving crew. Other days, I’m presenting to a room full of Vice President's and engineers.

Noelle’s journey is a great reminder that sometimes the best opportunities come from taking a chance and that this industry offers more variety and connection than many expect.
